EFFECT OF QUERCETIN AND GLUTARGIN ON PERIPHERAL BLOOD AND NONSPECIFIC RESISTANCE IN RATS EXPOSED TO CADMIUM

The aim of the present study was to investigate effects of Quercetin and Glutargin on peripheral blood and nonspecific resis-tance in rats exposed to cadmium. Experimental investigations were carried out in Wister rats. Cadmium intoxication were modulated by intraperitonial injections of cadmium sulfate in dose 1/100 LD50 (0.4 mg/kg body weigt). Quercetin (10 mg/kg body weigt) and Glutargin (100 mg/kg body weigt) was added to the meal, the control group had intraperitonial injections of 0.9 % NaCl. The state of peripheral blood and nonspecific resistance in rats were studied by standard hematological and immunological methods after 30 days of the exposure and 6 weeks of the recovery period. The use of Quercetin as a supple-ment in rats with cadmium intoxication resulted in the normalizations of the erythrocyte number and zincprotoporphirin level, increase of neutrophilic phagocyte activity, reduction of oxidative process and decreasing circulating immune com-plexes. The positive protective effect of Glutargin in rats exposed to cadmium was recorded in peripheral blood cells (ery-throcytes, leukocytes) and nonspecific resistance (phagocyte activity of neutrophils, level of circulating immune complexes). The protective effects of this supplement had a prolonged action.
