The data on adaptive mechanisms, responsible for a human’s body adaptation to harmful conditions of the environment, are laid down in the article. Chemical properties and physiological effects of xenon have been analyzed, its use as anesthetic in medicine and pharmacological mechanisms are described. The perspectives of xenon use as an adaptogen for increasing stress-resistance and correction of psycho-emotional tension have been substantiated.
