HYGIENIC ASSESSMENT OF THE TECHNOLOGY FOR SMELTING AND LADING MANGANESE STEEL BY OXYGEN-CONVERTER METHOD

Main processes and hygienic working conditions when smelting and lading manganese alloyed steel in oxygen-converter shops were studied. It was found that the studied technological process was accompanied by significant dust formation (74,6±11,9 and 61,2+6,2 Mg/M3 on the average, i.e. 18—15 MAC) and manganese oxides (up to 1,22±0,13 Mg/M3, i.e. up to 24 MAC) in air of the working zone. Workers of the following professions are mostly affected by the negative effect of high dust concentrations (with significant content of free silicon dioxide) and manganese oxides: operators of converters, cinder pitmen, operators of cocks, operators of ladles, operators of the ladling, operators of mixers and the charge.
