Introduction. Increased rates of multi-component mixtures of chemical plant protection products’ usage raise the need to improve the sanitary control of their application and to conduct hygienic estimation of the potential risk of possible hazardous effects of pesticides on the health of workers in the agro-industrial complex.
The aim of the study – hygienic estimation of occupational risk during application of fungicide based on bentialalicarb-isopropyl and folpet.
Materials and methods. The study of working conditions was carried out using gas-liquid, high-performance liquid chromatography and vapour-phase gas chromatography methods. The potential risk was assessed in accordance with the methodical guidelines on "Study, assessment and reduction of risk ..." (approved by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine on May 13, 2009, No. 324).
Results. The content of benthiavalicarb-isopropyl and folpet did not exceed the recommended hygienic standards (folpet MAC – 0.5 mg/m3, benthiavalicarb-isopropyl TSEL – 0.01 mg/m3) in the air of the working zone. It has been proved that the risk values of substances via percutaneous exposure are significantly higher than in inhalation exposure by the Student's t-test (p < 0.05, t = 3.78, tcr = 2.45). The calculated values of occupational risk for tank loader and tractor drivers by different routes of exposure of benthiavalicarb-isopropyl and folpet do not exceed 1 (allowable risk is 1), taking into account the substance content in the working zone air, washings from the bare skin areas and stripes on overalls. The risk for the tank loaders and tractor drivers in the combined (simultaneous) exposure by folpet and benthiavalicarb-isopropyl was calculated simply summing the values of the combined risk. The received values of risk were 0.223 for benthiavalicarb-isopropyl and 0.084 for folpet, which did not exceed 1 and were acceptable values. 3 days for mechanized operations and 7 days for manual operations were recommended as re-entry intervals after application of the preparation Vinkea, WG (containing benthiavalicarb-isopropyl and folpet as active ingrediens). The control of the application should be performed according to folpet determination. Conclusions. It is found that under actual conditions of treatment with fungicide Vinkea, WG, no excess of hygienic standards for the working zone air and for the atmospheric air near the treated areas and no deterioration of working conditions have been recorded.
