The paper describes the results of studies of breath sounds in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which is the most widespread chronic occupational disease of lungs. The studies were performed in the Clinic of the Institute for Occupational Health of AMS of Ukraine, using a multi-channel phonospirographic unit «КоРА-03М1». The computer processing of breath sounds of more than 500 sound «portraits» of patients, along with the subsequent analysis, allowed to objectively estimate qualitative and quantitative main characteristics of acoustic symptoms of COPD. Physical models of breath sounds generation with the presence of artifacts, provided by morphological and physical changes in lungs, caused by COPD, have been developed.
