The problem of arterial hypertension and coronary heart disease (CHD) in coal miners in Ukraine is discussed in the article. The attention is paid to new and classic risk factors of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) development, both specific for the general population and for work-related ones, typical for the mine environment. The relations of chances of each CVD risk factor have been analyzed. The results of the data analysis were risk factor identification for arterial hypertension and coronary heart disease, which mostly contributed to the development of the mentioned diseases in miners. It is found that hypertriglyceridemia, heredity, tachycardia, hyperglycemia, abdominal obesity (AO) and alcohol contribute, mostly, to development of arterial hypertension. For the development of CHD the most significant among risk factors are: overweight, hypertriglyceridemia, tachycardia and non-balanced nutrition.

Keywords: cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, coronary heart disease, risk factors
