Introduction. Work related to the rational selection of personnel, especially during military operations, has become one of the main tasks set before the leadership of military units. The process of personnel selection can be defined as a complex organizational function aimed at increasing the efficiency of professional activity both for an individual specialist and for the company personnel. The development of new approaches aimed at improving the professional selection procedure remains urgent. This is due to the fact that recently the requirements for the military officers have increased due to complexity of combat tasks, rapid changes in the combat situation, the introduction of new types of weapons. At the same time, organizational measures for conducting professional selection are not yet sufficiently developed.

The purpose of the study is to develop a "cascade" method of professional selection of military personnel.

Research materials and methods. An analysis of modern approaches to the organization of psychophysiological selection, involving the approaches of the theory of analysis of complex systems.

Research results and their discussion. A special integrated methodology is proposed that uses the Decision making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) and the Elimination and Choice Expressing Reality (ELimination Et Choix Traduisant la REalité, ELECTRE) methods in an intuitive-fuzzy (IF) environment. In the proposed methodology, the IF-DEMATEL method is first used to obtain the importance weight of the identified criteria, and then the IF-ELECTRE method is applied to rank the candidates based on the obtained scores.

Conclusions.

  1. The "cascade" approach to conducting professional psychophysiological selection, where at each stage of such selection, unsuitable applicants for the performance of professional duties in a specific position are determined. These applicants are then eliminated, which frees up the time of qualified psychophysiologists and saves costs. The advantages of such a selection procedure in comparison with traditional approaches are determined.
  2. By modeling possible situations of exposure to extreme conditions (the level of tolerance of elevated temperature, the ability to control various technical means; elements of homogeneous work or continuous dynamic activity) to the applicant, it is necessary to analyze the degree of this exposure and draw a conclusion about significant or non significant factors.
  3. The conducted analysis proves the possibility and value of improving the procedure of professional psychophysiological selection taking into account the techniques of "cascade" selection.

Keywords: professional selection, military personnel, "cascade" approach.
